  20.      You've used Fast track, the Work breakdown,
  21.      the Task list, and the PERT chart to put
  22.      information into the HiTech project.
  23.      Now it's time to look at the ~Gantt chart~2
  24.      for a different view of the project.

  26.      A Gantt chart shows tasks and milestones
  27.      laid out along a timescale.  You see
  28.      planned starts and finishes, durations,
  29.      constraints, and slack.

  46. This is the PERT chart for your project.  Now you
  47. can switch to its Gantt chart.

  49. First, pull down the Graphs menu.

  54. Ctrl-G, which you'll use most of the time.

  59. your project.  It lists the
  60. tasks and milestones for
  61. your project on the left.

  66. tasks and milestones, but
  67. you can ask it to list just
  68. tasks, just the milestones,

  74. listed in the order of their
  75. Planned start dates.  You can
  76. change the order of the tasks

  83. is a timescale.  HPM auto-
  84. matically divides it into
  85. one-week units.  But you can

  90. To interpret a Gantt chart,
  91. you should understand a few
  92. of the symbols HPM uses.

  96. Triangles and diamonds
  97. signify milestones. If the
  98. milestone has no slack, its
  99. two triangles are close
  100. together, forming a diamond.

  105. horizontal lines and bars.

  110. right of the bar, the task
  111. has some slack. The tasks,
  112. ~Recruit~2, ~Train~2, and

  125. stone name, HPM displays

  181. responsible in alphabetical

  216. planned start date.  The
  217. tasks are listed in ascend-

  221. ~order~2 column.)  You want
  222. to erase this sort order.

  237. screen right now.  You need
  238. to move down a screen.
